This year 2007 will be remarkable as the Year of Gratitude. And, this will be a fantastic long weekend ! We can all celebrate now ! Life is Good ! Really, 29% + gratuities is a blessing. Limits to growth are entirely relative.
The citizens of BC will be ever so grateful for the leadership of the BC Legislature in establishing the template for Standard of Living adjustments within the public and private sector. These legislative compensation events have become the Kyoto Protocol watershed declarations of our House of Legislature perks and wages. These are models to be honoured.
Advocacy groups and organized labour will certainly be able to garner similar increases to their income and benefits packages. Employers are going to love this! We are certain, that come Tuesday, following this May long weekend, that we will all return to work to discover that our bosses actually are forward-thinking souls - bacause, they have automatically increased compensation packages to their employees; using the MLA BC Legislature compensation packages as the principal cause for these good tidings.
Certainly, we all will be grateful for the forthcoming increases to the MSP provisions - people will actually be told by their physicians to hold onto hope; rather, than to witness that glare of discern that says " Well , really, at your age, what do you expect ?"
We easily imagine that Prime Minister Harper and Cabinet have likewise increased revenues to Canada Pension, Old Age Security; and, certainly, the Armed Forces over the weekend. Wow ! even the indigenous Reserves will get this glorious package ! Phil Fontaine will be relieved that this proclamtion has evolved. The BC MLAs have now joined the AFN and associates in their campaign to eliminate poverty - 29% plus, pensions for everyone : this may even move the Residential Schools Claimants Settlements closer to resolve: people will actually get money before they die of old age; and, the churches will not have to fear that so many people will opt out of the meagre settlements and actually sue for equity.
You think not ?
Well, look at the logic of this.
Canadians, in general, have witnessed their standard of living go into the tank over the last decade. Even our indebted American cousins next door have a higher standard of living - with tax benefits to boot.
So, now we get even. And, Trudeau - that much maligned Prime Minister - will again be proven to be wrong. Remember, he warned us when returning from a Club of Rome meeting that the elitists had determined that Canada would be a Third World nation within 30 years. Well, did he ever get this one wrong !
Thank God for the BC MLAs!
These are not merely titilating observations. Rather, this is a commitment from a very dedicated group of social activists and humanitairians. The Touchstone Committee <since 1975> does seek out natural justice. And, therein, with this BC MLA guiding principle of income and benefit compensation there now exists good and just cause to develop a realm of recovery from this former escalating demise of standard of living.
TC75 <The Touchstone Committee> will monitor organized labour to ensure that parity is negotiated. Further, we will be provocative advocates to federal, provincial and international agencies to assist the monitoring of all public and private theatres to establish a consistency toward this economic and social leadership that has been set in place by our BC MLAs.
Again, thank you. It is a rarity to witness in public life a moment of courage more evident and probative than this instance of events for the "good of the whole". There truly is a power of one.
